I could have written a blog post about how hard the RideLondon 100 climbs are:
- how much ascent
- the gradients
- how long each climb is
Instead I wrote a haiku.
Then I deleted the haiku and posted this video instead.
That said, this video relates to the OLD RideLondon-Surrey event. Here is my review of the latest RideLondon-Essex 100, which I rode in 2022. There’s even another video (a lot better than this one)
Monty is an enthusiastic road cyclist with only moderate talent. He started Sportive Cyclist in 2013 to record the journey to his first 100 mile ride, the RideLondon 100. Over time the blog has expanded to include training advice, gear reviews and road cycling tales, all from the perspective of a not-very-fit MAMIL. Since you're here, Monty would also like you to check out his YouTube channel. Also, Monty really needs to stop referring to himself in the third person.
Brilliant! I rode this in 2017 and 2018 (thanks for the reminders of how wet it was!) and agree wholeheartedly with your findings on the hills – and indeed on all your blog comments on the events generally.
Your blog really should be required reading for anyone tackling it for the first time.
